DYSTOPIA - A short story

DYSTOPIA By C. Wain (Patamu Registry number: 72695)   I am a ruined man. Disfigured… my features quite lost, for I shall never feel warmth again. I've never loved anyone nor was I loved by my kin, until I met that… that… argh, the words won’t exit my mind and transfix into this mouldy scrap of paper, no matter how hard I hold this metal pen of mine. My hands tremble as sorrowful memories fill my feeble mind and weaken my trembling spirit. It is too late for ease of mind, I know, for now I have lost everything. My life… my life I swear for the ability of sight to overpass this accursed world and behold the ethereal. To glimpse but for an instant, at her artificial smile once again. May you, stranger, and yet my single and most revered listener, forgive me for my frantic writing. But I cannot help it.  Oh, woe! A reject amongst the mindless, indifferent crowd surrounding me. It was on a night like this that our first meeting took place. As the thunder slashed open...

Love - a poem by C. Wain (re-post of 26th March 2018)

I would watch you as you are. Unbound. Free.  I would hide in your hair. A still, miniaturized version of myself. I would sail on your eyes. Sleep on your lips. Walk down your quaking chest. Above you heart. Climb you tender breasts. And then, all again. Night after night. Dream after dream, cursing the moment it all vanishes into the cold breeze of reality. My soul, I swear, for the chance to stay with you. Be with you. Lay with you. Ought we not to live for love, to love and in love? Then let me love you, one soul to another. I would unmask my being and tell you that I love you, most ardently. No more meat and bones, but transcending figures laying with our souls bare for each other to see.  Stare into the abyss. No judgement. No voice. No sound. For that is love. The still prelude to bliss. And then nothing. Leaving our souls bound in bliss, we descend back again into corruption. Letting the inevitable unfold, i t feeds and disrupts the purity of our love, leav...

A One-shot story By C. Wain

Chordectomy by C. Wain “Lus, I fear this is the last time I shall hear your kind voice. It is not right, you know…” “I know, Bethany. But, it is the way of the world.” “Then, the world is cruel and it sure does not deserve someone like you. To think you shall become a servant to those… to those cruel humans. I can’t bear it,” slowly stuttered the teen she-orc, bursting into tears as she leapt into the warm arms of her loving companion. “Don’t’ worry. You se-” “They will cut your vocal cords! How can I not worry!” The despair-filled cry of the loving she-orc sent a fit of pain right through Lus’ heart. “Mph, you have always been such a kind being. So unfit to live in this terribly insane world. You must not worry. I am ready for this. For all its worth, I have prepared my whole life for this moment. So, wipe that sad look off your beautiful face and show me your smile one last time”, warmly spoke the young orc as he cleaned the smooth skin of Bethany from the overflowing ...

Welcome to my blog!

I am C. Wain and it is my pleasure to welcome you to this blog. First, let me thank you for your support. It really means the world to me, and I hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I do in writing it. There is nothing more rewarding for writers than to have their work stir emotions (even criticisms) in their readers. Or at least that is what I think. In this blog, I will upload several dark fantasy short stories (unrelated to the Shinigami Tomes series) and other bonus adventures related to “The Shinigami Tomes” together with the latest news regarding the future of this series. I will also post stochastically on interesting subjects regarding the grimdark and dark fantasy genre. DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OLDER POSTS FOR SHORT-STORIES AND ADDITIONAL MAPS REGARDING "THE SHINIGAMI TOMES" SERIES Please feel free to comment and tell me your opinions. “The last letter of the alien” By C. Wain

I feel the waves in my ears, a s on my cheeks roll tears. They tell me pain is sour… I try… But I taste the salt as I cry. Alien amongst aliens. I feel better with the outcasted wretched when I eat my kin’s bread. The horses of death were four. In my nightmares, I have met them all. Please, tell me someone will choose me, for I badly need someone to love me. So, I end it here in a pang. The aliens are coming as they hear the bang

Thank you + Updates

With this post I simply want to convey a big thank you to all my readers and especially to those who took the time to give me a precious feedback/review on my first book "A Prayer for the necromancer". I don't put a like to comments nor do I comment on them, and that is not because I don't read them, but because I want to keep my mind open to both supportive feedback as well as the constructive-low rating reviews. But, I do read every review and I must admit that, with the risk of sounding cheesy, when I read the positive effect that my story had on a person, my heart fills with immense joy and gratitude. My dream is to write and when people tell me what they feel about my book – especially when they write that my words make them ponder and reflect on certain scenes - I am very happy. Having said that, I have a couple of news I wish to share here on my blog. First, I have taken to heart the constructive criticisms of my book which praised the story line but at ...

Kaze vs The Shade - A Bonus Adventure Story

South of Kunnis – The New World (One year before "The Shinigami Tomes" Vol. I. Chapter 2 events) Kaze stood still as he stared at the creature before him. The Shade, a mystical being made of darkness and mana, stood guard to the third blood tome. It resembled a centenarian man, except for the consistency of its body, which was semitransparent, being miasma rather than flesh and blood. The tome laid on its stony pedestal in the heart of a great swamp as its guardian remained vigilant, levitating around it. One year, it took Kaze to pinpoint the location of the third tome. It laid in a small marshland, south of Kunnis, a territory famous for its cold climate and copious marshlands. The necromancer stood silent, kneeling behind a great willow, as the fierce demonic being levitated around the tome. “ I must bind him to a physical object. In its ethereal form I am virtually powerless. Ops, I think he sensed me,” thought Kaze as the Shade suddenly stopped its repetitiv...
